SUFFOLK COUNTY PROBATE AND FAMILY COURT REGISTRY JOINS WITH THE MOLLY BISH FOUNDATION FOR "CHILD SAFETY DAY" EVENT:

Suffolk County Register of Probate Richard Iannella has joined with The Molly Bish Foundation to offer Child Safety Day at the Edward Brooke Courthouse, 24 New Chardon Street, Boston. The special event takes place on Thursday, April 22nd, 2004, from 9:00am – 3:00pm. The event is free and open to the public.

“Four years ago, a devastating tragedy occurred in the Commonwealth with the abduction and murder of young Molly Bish,” said Register Iannella in announcing plans for Child Safety Day. ”Molly’s parents, John and Magi Bish, turned this horrific tragedy into hope for the future by establishing a foundation in Molly’s name. They are resolute in working to preventing such a horrific crime from occurring again, and I am privileged to join with them by hosting this special event here at the courthouse in Boston.”

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, clear and current photographs and fingerprints are among the most important items for authorities to have on hand in the first hours a child goes missing. During the upcoming Child Safety Day event, volunteers from the Molly Bish Foundation will be on hand to photograph and fingerprint children for custom Child Identification Kits. These kits will then be provided to parents or guardians for safekeeping. Other important family and child safety information will also be available.

Child Safety Day is funded, in part, by the Suffolk Probate Community Outreach Program. “From our Addington Resource Center, Lawyer for the Day Program and self-help kits designed to assist the pro se litigant to the dozens of community meetings and Senior Seminars held throughout Suffolk County, our mission is one of public service,” stated Register Iannella. “This Child Safety Day event is yet another way for us to reach beyond the courthouse walls to assist those most in need – our children and our families.”

In recognition of their dedication and commitment to child safety, Register Iannella will present John and Magi Bish with a special citation during Child Safety Day. “They are good people performing a great service for the community, and they deserve our thanks,” Iannella stated.

The courthouse is located between Haymarket and The Fleet Center, and is adjacent to several MBTA stations, including: Bowdoin Station on the Blue Line; Government Center on the Blue and Green Lines; North Station on the Green and Orange Lines; and Haymarket Station on the Green and Orange Lines.
